Exploring a Reader-Response Strategy to English Language Arts Gr. 5-9

This session will take participants through:
An understanding of a reader-response approach to studying novels and short stories.
A hands-on learning experience with this approach.
Suggested strategies to use in the classroom.
Take Aways:
A reader-response approach has the capacity to increase students’ critical thinking skills, writing skills, and engagement with fictional stories.
Embedded in this workshop will be some discussions on approaches to increasing vocabulary, enhancing writing skills, as well as developing higher-order thinking.
